Caught in Cook County Courthouse: Kenosha man charged with Attempted Murder after a shooting in November 2024 at an Arlington Heights Red Roof Inn

A male adult suspect from Kenosha, Wisconsin is accused of shooting a man outside the victim's room at the Red Roof Inn at Algonquin Road and Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights on Friday, November 1, 2024. Police apprehended the suspect, Jonathan E. Caston, in a Cook County courthouse at 26th and California on Chicago's south side. On Thursday, August 28th, 2025, Arlington Heights Police Department detectives located and arrested Jonathan E. Caston at the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse, 2650 S California Avenue in Chicago, where he was appearing on pre-trial release for an unrelated firearms charge. In a subsequent interview, Caston admitted his involvement in the offense, according to the Arlington Heights Police Department. Barbecue restaurant Porkchop Chicago BBQ at 6341 N. Broadway in Chicago was significantly damaged by fire Saturday afternoon, August 30, 2025. A firefighter suffered a minor injury. Two women found shot at apartment on South Essex Ave in Chicago, one dies

Chicago police, fire, and EMS responded about 11:56 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2025 to a report of a shooting in the block of 7700 South Essex Avenue in Chicago. Inside the apartment, police discovered a 25-year-old woman with two gunshot wounds in the abdomen, and one gunsthot wound in the left leg. The woman was transported by Chicago Fire Department EMS paramedics to University of Chicago Hospital where she was pronounced dead. A 23 year-old woman was discovered with two gunshot wounds in the right leg and one gunshot wound in the left knee. She was transported by EMS to an undisclosed hospital.
