A male adult suspect from Kenosha, Wisconsin is accused of shooting a man outside the victim's room at the Red Roof Inn at Algonquin Road and Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights on Friday, November 1, 2024. Police apprehended the suspect, Jonathan E. Caston, in a Cook County courthouse at 26th and California on Chicago's south side. On Thursday, August 28th, 2025, Arlington Heights Police Department detectives located and arrested Jonathan E. Caston at the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse, 2650 S California Avenue in Chicago, where he was appearing on pre-trial release for an unrelated firearms charge. In a subsequent interview, Caston admitted his involvement in the offense, according to the Arlington Heights Police Department.
