Forest Park CTA Blue Line shooting appears to be a random shooting

Police, firefighters and paramedics from Forest Park responded about 5:24 a.m. Monday, Labor Day, September 2, 2024 to a report of three people shot that appeared to be dead on a CTA Blue Line westbound train at the Forest Park CTA blue line station, 711 Des Plaines Avenue in Forest Park. When police arrived they discovered four shooting victims.

The offender fled the scene; however, CTA security personnel and Forest Park police officers located a suspect after reviewing and monitoring surveillance video images. A suspect was located on a CTA Pink Line train and was taken into custody Monday morning — possibly by about 8:30 a.m. A weapon was also recovered.

Forest Park police secured the scene, and discovered that three of the shooting victims were dead at the scene. One shooting victim was transported by Forest Park paramedics to a nearby hospital where the individual was pronounced dead. All victims were passengers on the CTA Blue Line train, and the shooting occurred while the train was in motion arriving at the Forest Park train station.
