Chicago Police warn of three recent armed robberies in Chinatown

CPD warned the public of three armed robberies reported on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024, one occurring around 1:30 a.m. and two occurring just before midnight in the Chinatown neighborhood.

About the Crime:
This alert gives notice to Citizens in the 009th District (Deering) of recent Armed Robberies during the month of August. In these incidents, one to three offenders armed with handguns approach victims on the street and announce a Robbery. The offenders take the Victim's personal property and cash fleeing the scene in a Silver Kia Sportage with Texas Dealer Plate "TCV5044." These incidents have occurred in the general geographical locations listed below:

Incident locations and times:

• 2300 Block of South Wentworth Avenue on August 11, 2024 at 1:25AM.

• 2200 Block of South Wentworth Avenue on August 11, 2024 at 11:53PM.

• 300 Block of West 23rd Street on August 11, 2024 at 11:56PM.


About the offenders:
One to three male black offenders with at least one offender described as 30-35 years of age, 6'01, wearing a black baseball cap and black ski mask.

Vehicle used:
Silver Kia Sportage with Texas Dealer Plate "TCV5044"

What you can do:
• Always be aware of your surroundings
• Immediately report suspicious activity
• If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm
• Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc.)
Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
• If video surveillance is available, save and make a copy of the incident for investigating detectives
• If approached by a witness to the incident, request their contact information
• Immediately dial 9-1-1 and remain on the scene when possible
