Quadriplegic Participant Alan Robinson in 2017 Chicago Marathon Progresses Well After Sunset

Alan Robinson started the 2017 Chicago Marathon at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, and was still out on the course as of 9:50 p.m. The 62-year-old is known as a walking quadriplegic, also called an incapable quadriplegic, who has completed all his races following a tragic car accident in 1991. A common misconception with quadriplegia involves complete inability to move legs or arms, but some can walk and use their hands, depending on damage to the spinal cord.
