Maywood Firefighters Sent Home for Failure to Remove US Flag Decals from Lockers in Week Before 9/11

Firefighters in the village of Maywood say they were sent home for refusing to take American flag decals off their equipment [...] Flag problem traced back to a decision by several firefighters to replace a tattered American flag last month in one of Maywood’s firehouses.
